Back with Buckley

Life can't be all bad when for ten dollars you can buy all the Beethoven sonatas and listen to them for ten years.

William F. Buckley, Jr.

I took a year off trying to be Buckley. The only part I forgot, in appropriating his life, was a few dozen million dollars in inherited wealth. So I'm back working again.

It's been a rough sled, but I've learned a lot. It takes some effort not to be bitter when I think about how things might have gone if I'd made different decisions. So I try not to think about that.

Instead, I remember Buckley's words, and look around myself. Three delightful children; a loving and compassionate wife; good health; the retirement benefit of flying almost anywhere for next to nothing; and a big, leather sofa to rest in while I write.

I've absolutely nothing to complain about.

Hi Mike and welcome back!

It's your name sake here in Dallas. I don't know why but i find it curious that someone has the same name. I don't mean to weird you out. I'm a dad of 3 older kids and I'm fairly normal. I come from New York City from a family of 8. I moved here 4 years ago and thankfully, my kids followed. My son is Michael Jr. too!

I wondered what happened to you. I'm glad to see your still around. Keep writing and I'll keep reading.

Be well,

Mike
